Watch the August 11, 2021 event.
This Civics Program was created as a resource for students or community members working to change Native Themed mascots in their schools.
Journalist, writer and documentary filmmaker Jay Rosenstein joins the show for a great conversation on the mascot debate and winning the war of appropriation. Jay is a retired professor of journalism and the director of "In Whose Honor?", a 1996 documentary that follows Charlene Teters as she campaigns against Chief Illiniwek, the University of Illinois' offensive team mascot.
Our National Activist panel discusses the idea of "honor", and why mascots do not honor the Indigenous community. Pride and Prejudice Civics Program - August 11, 2021.
Please join us for a screening of Fighting Indians. This Documentary tells the story of the fight to ban Native themed mascots in Maine.
This is a FREE screening, but please donate to this project at fightingindians.com
